The Governor of Tennessee, Phil Bredesen has developed a program called Cover Tennessee to help all residents get a Tennessee Health Insurance policy that are affordable and practical. Through the government program, those who are income eligible, children, pregnant women and the seriously ill who cannot otherwise secure a Tennessee Health Insurance program can take advantage of the Cover TN system.

If you or your loved ones dont fit into those categories then exploring the options provided by the local Tennessee Health Insurance private companies is the route for you. It is important to know how the system works before starting the application process.

Currently there are no laws in place to control the application process and health insurance through a private provider is not guaranteed. Those trying to secure a Tennessee Health Insurance policy should no, because of the system, they can be rejected from coverage for any reason the policy provider deems fit. Health, age, medical history and lifestyle are all reasons one may not be accepted into a medical benefit program, that is why the state has created the CoverTN safety net.
