According to the CarInsurance.com Premium Index (CPI), those living in the following states are getting some financial relief from their auto insurance premiums due to rate decreases:
Auto insurance rates in those states have decreased over the past 12 months.
Utah residents are experiencing the biggest decrease as the average premium rate dropped by an astonishing 11% over recent months. While Iowa residents (9% decrease) and the insured driving population of Indiana (5%) will actually notice a significant change in their monthly car insurance premium charges, the overall average decrease varies from 1-2% per state. The rate decrease was noted by comparing premium charges from April to May.
If you’re not in one of the mentioned states, you can still lower your car insurance rates by making sure you have good credit. That’s because insurance companies often use credit scores to assess your level of responsibility, and this has a big impact on the premiums you pay. Don’t know what your credit report looks like? Check your FREE credit report and score, and you’ll be on your way to saving on your automobile insurance.
People lucky enough to live in a state where rates dropped should immediately call their insurance provider to see if something can be done in the form of a rate adjustment.
