There are different levels of auto insurance coverage, as well as different types of auto insurance coverage. Every state in America legally requires drivers to have at least a minimum level of auto insurance so that they can cover the costs involved in a car accident, should they be the driver at fault in that situation. Levels of auto insurance coverage are directly linked to their dollar price the more you spend on your insurance premium, the greater the levels of car insurance you will get in return.

The basic levels of auto insurance are generally considered to be comprehensive and collision, known by most people as comp and collision. People may also opt for strictly just liability insurance. This involves the amount of money your insurance carrier will provide should you cause harm or injury to another person and or their property. For example, a cheap, bare-bones level car insurance policy might be something along the lines of $25,000 per person for bodily injury; $50,000 per accident for bodily injury; and $15,000 per accident for property. These figures correspond to the amount of fees that your car insurance company will cover in case of an accident. What you pay per month will be contingent on many different factors concerning you and your driving record. If you want more coverage than the minimum, you will pay more cash per month in the form of a monthly premium. You may opt for $100,000 per person for bodily injury; $200,000 per accident for bodily injury; and $25,000 per accident for damage to property. You will pay more each month for that level of coverage, but you will also rest easier knowing that you will be covered for serious amounts of money in case you are responsible for a major accident. Without the right type of auto insurance coverage, you could find yourself facing huge financial problems if you are responsible for a car accident.

As with any and all questions regarding levels and types of auto insurance coverage, be sure to speak with an auto insurance expert before you make any financial decision regarding the right type of auto insurance coverage for you.
