Power and Associates, not only are customers happy with the settlement amounts they receive, but they’re pleased with the speed in which their insurers are processing their claims.

The J.D. Power and Associates 2013 U.S. Claims Satisfaction Study, Wave 1, revealed that auto insurance companies continue to impress their customers with their handling of claims. The study found that claims adjusters are doing a better job of speeding up the process than ever before.

On a 1,000-point scale, claimant satisfaction reportedly increased six points in the fourth quarter of 2012 to 861 over the fourth quarter of 2011. This increase has been largely attributed to the 11-point increase in settlement satisfaction.

One specific aspect of the process that made customers happy was repairable and total loss claims being paid faster. According to the study, the average time insurers took to pay claimants decreased to 13.9 days in the fourth quarter of 2012, down from 16.4 days in the same period of 2011.
