National auto insurer Geico recently provided used vehicles to three families in the New York area. In a partnership with Recycled Rides, Geico presented the vehicles to Long Island and Brooklyn families who were in need of reliable transportation.
In an effort to help the community, Recycled Rides, an awareness project that encourages members of the local National Auto Body Council (NABC), coordinated the project to refurbish and donate the recycled vehicles.
After Geico donated the used vehicles, local NABC body shops donated their repair services then gave the vehicles to the three families in a ceremony.
In addition to helping the community to get back on their feet, Geico helps individuals find affordable auto insurance. However, if you’re not convinced that this company is the right one for you, there are other car insurance companies that offer great auto insurance quotes as well.
In order to find the right coverage, it’s important to shop around for the best auto insurance rates. By taking this action, you offer yourself the opportunity to find coverage that comes with great discounts – like those found with Geico – and other deals that could lower your premium substantially.

Geico will team up with Safe Kids Tucson to provide parents a great incentive to take car seat safety classes. Parents who signed up and completed a course were eligible to receive a free child safety seat as an incentive to keep their children safe when driving. The seats were even given by the age and weight of the child, and several hundred will be provided in total to parents who are in need of them.
Here are the details of the event:

If you know of a young and talented artist or filmmaker, Geico wants them to help spread the word on the importance of safety belts. The auto insurer is holding its annual Safety Belt Poster Contest for school-aged children and will be accepting submissions until the beginning of next year.
About the Contest
In an effort to help promote safe driving (which could effectively lower auto insurance premiums), Geico has created a contest urging young artists to spread the word. All students, ages six to 18, are encouraged to enter. Here are the ways to enter:
The winners of the contest will be those who best illustrate that safety belts save lives while encouraging everyone to buckle up. Last year, there were five grand prize winners based on the following five categories: ages 6-8, ages 9-11, ages 12-15, ages 16-18, and computer generated. Also, nearly 100 students won cash awards.
Want to Enter?
If you or someone you know wants to enter the Safety Belt Poster Contest, visit Geico’s contest site to learn the specific details of the contest, as well as how to enter. While the posters must be sent via snail mail to Geico’s offices, video entries may be submitted online. The deadline for all entries is Jan. 15, 2010.

Unfortunately, there are too many stories of service men and women who have come back from serving their country only to find out that the benefits and perks promised to them are not as helpful as anticipated. However, that is not to say that there are not other organizations looking out for the overall welfare for those who are onactive duty, retired from the Military, or a member of the National Guard or Reserves. One such industry that is respectful of its commitment to our armed forces are auto insurance providers, and many times they are willing to offer a 15% discount on auto insurance costs for military personnel.
The trend of helping out service personnel was first started by USAA (United Services Automobile Association) and Geico (Government Employees Insurance Company), and they are still the largest providers of this discount. However many other insurers such as State Farm, have also decided to come aboard.
The discount for military service personnel was backed by theNational Association of Professional Insurance Agents. They fought for those who protect the country’s freedom and released an announcement demanding that the underwriting requirement be waived in the case of returning U.S. troops, thus allowing service personnel a better discount on high insurance rates when putting their previously stored vehicles back on the road.

In Oakland County, Michigan, GEICO insurance is providing the local law enforcement team with cars to be used as bait to snag auto thieves. Thespecially-altered vehicle is being left around areas that are known for high theft activity because asSheriff Michael Bouchard said,”Most people who steal these types of vehicles are part of a theft ring that may be involved in other illegal activity like drugs or car jackings,” and by decreasing auto theft it will lower all the other types of crimes the illicit groups are involved in.
The rates for auto insurance are determined by a number of factors. Aside from the driver’s personal information and driving record, rates are also influenced by where the car is registered and parked. When crime goes down, GEICO insurance rates will move in the same direction.
It is common for GEICO insurance to assist law enforcement officials in order to lower the crime rate around the country. In Oakland County, GEICO insurance is not only providing the “auto bait” but is working with the localAuto Theft Task Force in order to reduce insurance card fraud rings.

If you are like most consumers, you are always on the look out for low rates on car insurance, or ways to lower your car insurance rates. But what are the best ways to get the best auto insurance rates? Even if you don’t qualify for a good student discount or have a membership in an auto club, here are three things you can do right now to make sure you are getting the best auto insurance deals you can find.
First, you have to look for them. Seems obvious, right? But often people get complacent and never shop around to see if they could get a better rate. Experts suggest that you shop for auto insurance once a year; if you work with an insurance agent, see if your agent will match an online price quote, which is typically a lot lower than standard insurance rates. Taking some other insurance rates out for a test-drive is the best way to get a deal.
Second, what discounts do you qualify for? It’s true that insurers now factor in things like your credit score and parking tickets when determining your rate. But many also offer substantial discounts to good students, those with clean driving records, and members of professional organizations such as Mensa, the Dental Hygienist’s Association, and many alumni groups. Geico, for instance, has 200 qualifying groups that can save you up to 27%.
Third, take a closer look at what you are paying for and look into alternatives, such as pay-as-you-go insurance or package deals. For example, if your kid’s car is sitting in the garage while she’s off at college, some companies will let you take advantage of a discount rate for cars that are driven less than 2,500 miles a year. Or, you could save 10-20% by packaging your auto insurance and renters insurance at the same company. It pays to check out package deals with whoever holds your policy; they might give you a discount just for asking!

Known for humorous commercials and providing insurance coverage for motorcycle and action sports participants, GEICO has recently inked a deal to become the title sponsor of the AMA EnduroCross. The high-risk sport is an off road racing event on a course that includes sand, mud, water, rocks and giant tires.
The EnduroCross Championship Series is scheduled to open July 25 at the Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena. Additional tour stops include Oklahoma, South Carolina, Ohio and Colorado. The GEICO insurance sponsored event will make a complete circle and conclude back at the Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena.
The promotional arrangement between GEIGO and AMA EnduroCross was a natural match. According to Eric Vaden of GEICO Powersports Marketing, “GEICO Powersports is not only the title sponsor of EnduroCross, but we’re also one of the big fans of the sport. We’ll be right there as part of the audience, cheering on these amazing athletes and the miraculous ways in which they pilot their motorcycles through the unforgiving terrain on a GEICO Powersports EnduroCross track.”
This sponsorship arrangement should have no affect on the GEICO insurance rates enjoyed by policyholders. For the best motorcycle insurance rates, including those from GEICO, visit Go Insurance Rates often as rates change frequently.

After years of trying to gain new customers with talking gecko’s and cavemen touting their bargain basement prices, the most recent GEICO insurance commercials are now promoting the company’s quality of service. The campaign is backed by GEICO’s quirky sense of humor, but the new message is promoting the 97% customer satisfaction levels of GEICO’s customer base.
The new tag line is”Accidents are Bad, but GEICO’s Good,” and these commercial spots are set to work in conjunction with previous campaigns and tag lines. The story lines of the new GEICO spots recreate the four most common types of accidents that generate claims and inanimate objects such as bumpers, grills and tree branches make the point of bragging about GEICO’s quick and reliable service.
Those concerned that this new message will affect their GEICO insurance rates need not be. The slogan”15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance” still stands true.
