Health Care Bill May Not be Delivered in 2009 as Promised
President Obama has been promising a completed health care bill by the end of 2009 since virtually all year, but now Senior Congressional Democrats say this probably won’t happen. This news comes only a week after Obama declared that he was “absolutely confident” that he would be able to sign one by that time.
Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, said the problem can be found in Senate. Apparently, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has yet to release the bill because he’s waiting for the Congressional Budget Office to come up with the estimated costs associated with variations of the bill be one can be introduced to Senate. The budget probably won’t be released until next week.
While the delay has caused some frustration in Congress, Reid insists that his goal is to make moves appropriately, not quickly. However, he is still hopeful that the bill will be signed into law by the end of the year.
As Congress tries to work out the kinks with health care reform, there’s nothing wrong with looking for affordable coverage options on your own. By comparing health insurance quotes and looking at the differences between various health insurance companies, you could find yourself an affordable rate on coverage before the bill is signed into law.
Do you think that Senate should rush to get the health care bill passed by year-end?
