Federal investigators announced on Wednesday that 91 people in eight different cities were charged for attempting to steal millions of dollars from the Medicare system. This attempt is now being called by Attorney General Eric Holder the biggest take-down in Medicare task force history.

In the wake of the devastation seen in the state of Connecticut as a result of Hurricane Irene, a number of insurance companies have agreed to waive some policyholders’ hurricane insurance deductibles. Most of the homeowners receiving the break on deductibles are coastal property owners whose homes were damaged.

The COBRA health insurance subsidy that has helped laid-off workers continue to use their former employer’s health coverage drew to a close on Wednesday. The end of the subsidy is now raising concerns about how the unemployed will cover their health expenses without federal support.
